Shredded Beef with Chillies Recipe

Ingredients
1. Flank steaks (3lbs)
2. onion cut into 1/8 inch slices (1large)
3. vegetable oil or lard (1/3c)
4. fresh California chili peppers (8)
5. salt (to taste)
6. water (1 1/2c)
7. garlic (6cloves)
8. whole peppercorns (6)

Method of preparation:-
1. Take a heavy Dutch oven, place the flank steak in it and then add water, 4 of the garlic cloves, peppercorns and salt in it according to taste.

2. Place it over low heat to simmer. Cover the Dutch oven and cook it until the meat gets tender and well cooked for about 1 ½ hours.

3. Take chili peppers, roast them and peel them and then cut them into 1/8 inch wide strips. Keep them aside. When the meat gets tender then remove it from heat and keep it to cool in the water. When it gets cool enough to handle then pull it into fine shreds with forks.

4. Again place the beef shreds to the liquid. Take a frying pan, heat oil in it over medium heat and then sauté the remaining garlic cloves. Add onions in the pan and sauté them until they get soft but not brown.

5. Now add chilli strips and cook for more 2 minutes. Add the beef mixture and cook for another 10 minutes. Adjust the seasoning. When it gets ready then serve it with flour tortillas.
