Beef Stew (A La Guatemala) Recipe

97 percent lean ground beef (1lb), onion (1large or about 1 cup chopped), green bell pepper (1large about 1 ½ cups chopped), ground cloves (1/8tsp), dried oregano leaves (1/2tsp), bay leaves (2), frozen mixed vegetables (1c), salsa verde (1/4c), Mexican style stewed tomatoes (1can), bottled minced garlic (1tsp), long grain rice (1c), vegetable oil (1tbsp).
Method of preparation:-
Take a medium saucepan, boil 2 cups of unsalted water in it. Add rice in it and cook for about 15 minutes or until the rice get tender. Meanwhile, heat the oil over medium- high heat in extra deep 12 inch nonstick frying pan. Add chopped onion in the pan and then add beef. Cook and stir to break up the beef. Now rinse and seed the bell pepper. Coarsely chop the pepper and add it to the frying pan. Add garlic and cook it and stir for about 5 minutes or until the beef gets completely brown. Add the tomatoes with their juices, frozen vegetables, the salsa verde, oregano, bay leaves and cloves. Keep this mixture to boil until get thick and the rice is cooked. Now remove the bay leaves and serve at once over hot rice.
